I love a trip to the funfair-in fact, the annual fair has just visited my small town. The sounds, smells and sights are truly iconic and bring back memories of fun-filed nights with friends.
The funfair is therefore my inspiration for this week’s moodboard-fun at the fair!
I choose, however, to move the theme towards a darker, more moody vibe than your traditional funfair themed wedding. This theme feels very sophisticated and oozing with statement features that you can really put your own mark onto.
So read on for some tips on how you can have fun at the fair on your wedding day.
Colour scheme
Black is your statement neutral colour here (yes, black does count as a neutral!) but add the party feel by adding plenty of gold in a darker, burnished hue.
Lift the whole colour scheme with some moody pinks or purples.
Wedding clothes
This theme can allow you to be a bit OTT with your wedding dress. Think feathers, coloured dresses or flouncy layers. Another way to go would be a tea-length dress with some statement shoes.
Grooms can opt for some ‘harder’ fabrics such as denim or leather and forgo the traditional suits.
Wedding flowers
Moody colours are your friends here-think pinks, purples and dark greens. Some sharp, spiky foliage can help to prevent the flowers looking too soft for this theme.
Wedding decor
You can really go to town (or the fair!) with your decor. Avoid going to circus-like and leave out the candy stripes. Instead, think more industrial. Lots of candles, cream linens and round tables with simple foliage based centrepieces. For entertainment, add a few funfair style games such as giant Jenga.
Wedding cake
Ditch the traditional wedding cake in favour of a donut board, with the donuts iced in your wedding colours. The advantage of this setup is that guests can help themselves when they feel hungry!
