As the weather is turning distinctly autumnal here in England, my thoughts are turning to one of my favourite autumn pastimes. Making sloe gin ready to serve at Christmas time!
Sloe berries are starting to appear on the hedgerows and that is where my inspiration for this week’s moodboard came from.
I adore the frosted, mottled blue hues that adorn sloe berries. These would make the perfect backdrop to an autumn or winter wedding. So read on for how you can use these delightful (and delicious) berries as the inspiration for your wedding.

Colour scheme
Use the varied shades of blue that are found in sloe berries as the base of your colour palette. Think deep, frosted shades of navy and grey-blue, lifted by a flash of a brighter blue.
For a warm, autumnal contrast, choose an additional peach, blush pink or pale orange shade to compliment the blue.
Wedding clothes
This theme is all about embracing the unrefined beauty of nature. For a wedding dress, lacey layers will create a non-uniform look that will suit this theme well. Grooms can be attired in deep navy or grey with a handkerchief or cravat in your complimentary colour.
Wedding flowers
Stick with the blue theme and have a few different shades of a bold flower such as dahlias. These can be contrasted with some white or cream roses (or mix in your complimentary colour). Finally, mix in some autumn foliage and berries.
Wedding decor
Think autumn nature-green foliage and berries lining rustic, wooden tables. A blue table runner will help tie-in your theme. Look to use foliage as your main decorative feature. Wrapped around pillars, surrounding your wedding cake etc. Have plenty of candles and lanterns ready for when the evening draws in to create a cosy feel.
Wedding cake
Keep with the rustic feel and opt for a naked cake or a cake with a rough texture to the icing. Match your flavours to the theme by choosing a cake sandwiched together with a fruit flavoured jam. Keep the decor simple-just some seasonal blue flowers or berries scattered over the top.
If you love this theme as much as I do then head over to the Muddy Weddings Instagram page. I would love to see your interpretation of this theme.
